Key Features of Operable Walls
Stacking:
When your operable wall is folded away, you have various panel storage options. A central stack is the simplest, stacking panels directly in the middle. Opting for a side stack positions panels slightly off to the side of the main track, ideal for spaces like hallways. This is especially useful for setups with full-sized pass doors. Alternatively, remote stacking lets you place panels anywhere, like in a discreet bay, ensuring both protection and concealment.
Acoustics:
A regular wall in a house usually has a sound rating between 34-39. So, even our simplest operable wall will be better at blocking sound than a regular wall. When choosing the right sound rating for your wall, think about a few things. Just like a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, your wall’s weakest point will be where sound can get through, like air vents or gaps in the ceiling. Make sure you choose a wall that matches the sound needs of your room.
Seals:
When you’re choosing the right seals for your Operable Wall, there are a few options to think about. One important thing to consider is how much sound you want to block, which is called the Rw Rating. Many customers find that a fixed sweeping seal works well for their Operable Wall. This seal helps to keep the sound out and works fine even on uneven floors. Tests done by NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) show that sweep seals don’t make the wall less effective at blocking sound. All Operable Wall tests have been done with fixed seals at the top and bottom, up to a sound level of RW50.
Panel Frames:
The aluminium panels and door edges are made to stop sound very well. They fit together like a puzzle, making a tight seal with rubber. This stops air from getting through. Make sure to ask our Unifold team which seals are best for your soundproof wall.
Closures & Finishes:
The aluminum panels and door edges are designed to block sound effectively. They fit together tightly like puzzle pieces, using rubber to create a seal. This stops air from passing through. Make sure to ask our Unifold team which seals work best for your soundproof wall.
